A local developer has created a corporate event space to mimic an outdoor retreat – without having to step out, According to Louisville Business First.

ARC Construction Management LLC recently completed The Camp, a 10,000 square foot event space on the first floor of its office building at 310 Spring St. in downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana. The building once housed Horner Novelty, until the company converted it into offices in 2019.

Alan Muncy, owner of ARC, said the company intentionally left the first floor unoccupied when initially designing the offices while it considered what it wanted to create. After deciding to turn it into an event space, the company began construction on the project in late 2021 and completed it in April this year.

True to its name, the space is themed around a campsite. The walls are lined with murals designed to look like a view of the lake. It has two stages equipped with audio and visual technology for presentations. One stage features a stone fireplace, while the other features a fully restored 1963 Avion aluminum trailer.

Seating in the venue includes picnic tables, swings, regular dining tables, and Adirondack chairs on grass. It can hold up to 400 guests, Muncy said. ARC has even created camp-themed light fixtures, which come in the form of 12-foot canoes suspended from the ceiling.

In the corner of the room is a refurbished pontoon boat that can be used for additional seating or photo space. The camp has other amenities for guests to take advantage of, such as a full-service kitchen, two bars, corn hole, ping-pong, pool table, and arcade games.

Muncy said ARC primarily hosts business or educational events. The downtown Jeffersonville location is advantageous because it’s close to other amenities the city has to offer, he added.

“Being downtown, it’s conveniently located where we have access to all the restaurants and parking lots – there are several parking lots around us,” Muncy said. “It’s really just designed for a professional type event space. These companies can come here and have fun and have a good time.”

Muncy came up with the idea for a camp theme while spending time at a lake house. He said the relaxing atmosphere outside could create a great getaway for business events.

The ARC offices upstairs are just as much fun as camping downstairs. The company purchased the building in 2018, renovating the second floor into its offices in 2019. At the time, Muncy said he wanted to create a creative playground for the new headquarters. It features basketball courts, a full-service bourbon bar, Coffee Crossing, treehouse, motorcycles, bicycles, and more.
