Introduce Park ’til Dark with free, family-friendly activities and celebrate the return of Pour at the Park | Sponsored | Sponsored content | Pittsburgh

Spring has finally arrived and now is the perfect time to get out of town for fun, entertainment and a cold beer.
Park ’til Dark is the perfect opportunity to experience it all. This is a full day of free, family-friendly recreational activities in South Park, complete with the annual Pour at the Park Beer Tasting. Pour in the Park is a fundraising event hosted by the Allegheny County Parks Foundation. Park ’til Dark and Pour at the Park all take place in South Park on May 14, making it “one full day, two big events!”
The Park ’til Dark fun begins with a free outdoor Sunrise Yoga class at The Fairgrounds at 7:30 a.m. in partnership with Queer Pittsburgh. Or bring the whole family on a Ranger-led walk along historic sites including the Cascades and Cashmere Valley from 10am-noon. Take another trip down memory lane at Meet the Millers, with casual presentations at the Oliver Miller Homestead from 1-4 p.m.
Other free activities include a bird walk led by Rangers in partnership with Outdoor Afro from 9-11am. If biking is your sport, sign up for Bike the Park with Pro Bike + Run from 3:30-5pm in partnership with Black Girls Do Bike. Stop by the UPMC Health Plan at the fairgrounds for free health checks from noon to 4 p.m., which also has fun activities for kids.
Have you ever considered geocaching as an interesting way to complete more steps? Venture Outdoors is hosting a lesson to learn how to capture “treasures” from 9-11am. The Pittsburgh Cricket League is offering a free hands-on clinic of this unique sport on the park’s cricket ground from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring your pup for a free professional photo shoot at the off-leash dog park from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
All activities are free but require registration at parktildark.com, where you will find full descriptions of each activity.
After this full day of fun, stick around for Pour at the Park, the annual outdoor beer and food tasting fundraiser to benefit projects in the parks. This ticketed event features local craft beers, brick oven pizzas, grilled meats and healthy vegan specialties. Enjoy live bluegrass music from local band, The Turpentiners, and fun activities for ages 6-15 at Coach Dave’s Kids Camp. Tickets for this event, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., range from $10 to $55. A takeaway stainless steel tasting cup is included with the full price ticket.
