Here is a list of summer activities for kids around Shreveport

Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking of fun activities to keep your kids entertained until back to school.
From alligators at the exotic zoo to a history lesson with one of the many interesting museums to the fresh air outdoors, there’s plenty to explore in Northwest Louisiana.
Gators and Friends Adventure Park and Exotic Zoo
Just outside of Shreveport, Northwest Louisiana’s largest adventure park is in Greenwood and has around 150 alligators that you can observe up close. If alligators aren’t your thing, you can zipline over a swamp or spin around a go-kart track. Don’t forget to stop to feed and pet over 30 types of exotic animals in their natural habitat.
Gators and Friends is located at 11441 Hwy. 80 in Greenwood. Open Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit the Gators and Friends website for information on admission prices, season passes and more.
Louisiana Military Museum
If you have kids who like fun history lessons, they’ll love the exhibits at the Louisiana Military Museum. They can learn about uniforms, weapons, flags, training equipment, aircraft, and vehicles from nearly every conflict in American history while learning stories about local heroes and unknown enemies.
The museum is open Wednesday from noon to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is always free.
Lake Claiborne State Park
If you want a relaxing getaway that will keep the kids entertained, Lake Claiborne State Park offers a plethora of activities for all ages. Swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, hiking, and camping are all options when you pull up your RV or rent a cabin in the pines.
For more information on activities, RV reservations, and cabin reservations, visit the Lake Claiborne State Park website.
