Cruise Vacations: Passengers Warn Customers to Avoid Expensive Activities | Cruise | Travel

A guest asked fellow passengers on Reddit to share their tips for a first-time cruise passenger. A guest shared a way to save money.

They said, “To think that you have to book excursions with the line. Not only do they cost a lot more, but you can usually book something when you get off the ship at the port or even do it ahead of time online.

Cruise lines usually offer excursions and tours for passengers to take upon arrival at a port.

This can range from a walk, bus or bike ride through a city to snorkeling in a more exotic destination.

However, cruise excursions can be much more expensive for passengers than other options.

Many tour companies offer trips to cruise passengers and usually pick up guests at the port and drop them off there.

These can be cheaper than those offered by the cruise line and can usually be booked online in advance.

However, cruise passengers will need to make sure they get back to the ship on time if they don’t use one of the ship’s excursions.

A ship will depart without overdue passengers unless they are on an excursion with the cruise line’s own company.

Another guest shared his own warning about excursions. They said, “As others have said, it’s easy to overdo it.

“On my first cruise, I took part in almost every activity and took an excursion to every port. I was so exhausted at the end.

“Since every cruise, I check the next day’s schedule in advance and choose a time of about two hours for a nap.

“That way I can stay up late without being the party hanger. I also only take excursions to about half of the places I visit.

“It’s not really a vacation when you spend all your time running around trying to do everything you can do and see on a cruise ship.”

Some of the larger cruise ships are packed with activities that guests can try on days at sea.

From zip lines to crazy golf or laser quests, a day at sea can be filled with endless activities.

However, guests might get overwhelmed if they try to do it all at once. After all, they could always book another cruise to try the rest.
