âWe understand the enthusiasm for the public to enjoy their public lands. Allowing scattered overnight camping in Minnesota’s national forests now makes that possible, âsays Darla Lenz, Chippewa Forest Supervisor. âWe ask visitors to continue to follow local, state and federal guidelines on safety and social distancing wherever they choose to go. “
Additionally, Forests have lifted current restrictions on campfires, visitors are now allowed to make campfires, use charcoal barbecues and wood stoves on Chippewa and Upper National Forest lands. . Visitors are advised to exercise caution with campfires and ensure they are completely cool to the touch before leaving the area. The area is currently in the spring wildfire season and it is possible that any escaped fire will turn into a fast growing wildfire.
