Camping, activities are in full swing at Lake Washington Regional Campground

KASOTA, Minnesota (KEYC) – It’s a full weekend of campers and tents on Lake Washington.

“It’s so awesome to be open here again, we love meeting new people and seeing people here rehearsals from other years that keep coming back,” said the warden of the Lake Washington Regional Campground, Sue Holicky.

Due to the pandemic, the Lake Washington Regional Campground opened on June 1.

“People were so excited to get back to the fresh air,” Holicky said.

The campground is home to 31 electric campsites, with four tent pitches. Including an area for group camping.

With a $ 1 million grant, expansion plans are underway over the next 10 years.

“There are plans to build a road between our campground and the lake with rental of kayaks and canoes,” Holicky said.

In addition, the camp launched Saturday shenanigans., various outdoor activities for campers and the public. The kickoff featured a scavenger hunt for pink ribbons tied throughout the campsite and trails.

“Once you’ve found all eight places, you’ve come a mile,” Holicky said.

Camping is also ramping up for the weekend of July 4, with a camping and motorhome decoration contest. The winner will receive a free week of camping.
