Karaoke without Borders

Tue, June 3, 2025 • 6:00pm - 7:00pm (1h) • Little Nourse Theater

Join us for Karaoke without Borders, an evening with Karaoke in languages other than English!

When: Tuesday Week 10, June 3, 6-7pm
Where: Little Nourse
Who: Organized by students of the German Department, everyone welcome!

Why Little Nourse?

In 1932, the former gymnasium in the basement of Nourse Hall was converted into an intimate “little theater," with the first major production in the theater opening on November 18, 1946. On May 4, 1948, students from Carleton produced the world premiere of the German playwright Bertolt Brecht's play The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Der kaukasische Kreidekreis) in what is now called Little Nourse. This play premiered in Germany only on October 7, 1954. Bertolt Brecht features in multiple German classes in the department, and knowing that his piece premiered here at Carleton makes this place just a little bit more special.

Why Karaoke without Borders?

Following in the footsteps of Carleton's annual "Poetry without Borders" event, "Karaoke without Borders" extends a tradition of linguistic and cultural celebration. Join us if you have something to sing about the state of the world in a language other than English!
